Elias Barnes was born and raised in Kentucky but is partial to the gulf coast and north woods, places which feature prominently in his writing. His dad always told him that if he kept poking around in swamps, he would find something he didn't like, but he never has. 

 

Elias and his wife are recent empty nesters, who still cook too much food. When he isn't writing, he is probably plotting against the backyard squirrels with his dog, Dixie.
